Central Cab

The NG Shunting is a new generation of four-axle central-cab locomotives developed by Stadler to improve the operational efficiency on shunting services in marshalling yards and freight terminals, as well as on tracks works and mainline transport operations.

The NG Shunting is a 4-axle locomotive with AC/AC transmission and low axle load. It fully complies with all TSI and European standards regarding safety, emissions and environmental protection and has been designed with a high degree of redundancy, increasing the reliability. The NG Shunting offers excellent flexibility to rail operators, since the units can be used for shunting services and track works, as well as main line operations. They can operate safely at speeds up to 120 km/h ensuring a smooth integration into the mainline traffic. They are also designed for multiple unit operation, up to three locomotives. In addition, it is available with different types of power supply so that each operator will find the one that suits best; they can be equipped with state-of-the art diesel engines, with electric drive or batteries. 

VR Group placed the first order in 2019 to improve efficiency on shunting and main line transport services in Finland.
