Thanks to professionally completed modernisation work, Stadler makes it possible to extend the service life of rail vehicles, preserve the value of investments and improve performance, safety, comfort and availability. Outdated components are replaced to meet today’s demands and increase passenger comfort. This ensures that future needs can be covered in good time. Possible options include conversion of the fleet to environmentally friendly drive technologies (battery or hydrogen) or integration of the latest version of ETCS.

  • The renowned X2000 multiple units were originally built in the 1980s and put into service in the 1990s. The Swedish rail operator SJ commissioned Stadler to modernise the technical drive and the interior fittings with the aim of extending the service life of the trains by 20 to 25 years.

  • This modernisation project concerns the conversion of 35 FLIRT vehicles to the Stadler ETCS system. The trains mainly run in the Netherlands, but also in Germany and Belgium. They have been in operation since 2017. The upgrade includes cross-border homologation for three countries and offers the customer a comprehensive service.
