Stadler Service celebrates ten years of success
Today, Stadler's Service division celebrates ten years in existence. As leading provider of maintenance, service and overhauls, Service has enjoyed steady growth over the last decade, and is responsible for an increasing number of contracts for a wide range of rolling stock all over the world. It now has 2,300 employees at more than 80 service locations around the world committed to ensure a safe and reliable railway for passengers worldwide.
Stadler's Service division was founded on March 7, 2014, after signing a contract with a company in the Netherlands and acquiring its subsidiary with four maintenance locations and about 100 employees at the end of 2013. As a result, additional service locations were established across Algeria, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary.
Service has experienced record in strong performance with average annual growth of around 16% since 2016. Today, with over 2,300 employees at more than 80 locations in 24 countries, its comprehensive portfolio includes the maintenance, repair and modernisation of rail vehicles, as well as component revision. It provides full service contracts over the entire service life of the vehicles and technical support and spare parts agreements (TSSSA), with activities ranging from the maintenance of rack railways and small series to light rail vehicles and large mainline fleets.
“As a pioneer in this field, our goal is to continue growing in order to gain market share, offering our customers all over the world a service that is second to none,” says Daniel Baer, Executive Vice President Division Service at Stadler. “I would like to thank both our clients for their trust as well as our employees for making Stadler a leading player in this burgeoning sector within the rail industry across the globe.”
“Thanks to the long-term partnership between MTRX and Stadler Service, we have been able to deliver an outstanding availability of our trains since the commencement of operations in 2015. As a testament to this, MTRX recently delivered a stellar 99,7% of the planned traffic during the recent – and unusually tough – Swedish winter period. I congratulate the entire Stadler team on the 10-year anniversary of its Service Division and look forward to many more successful years going forward.”, states Filip Thunell, CEO, MTRX.
Stadler Service: A strong division with a global presence
Over the last ten years, Stadler's Service division has achieved many milestones, winning countless maintenance contracts with railway operators from all over the world and opening several new service locations. Within three years of its foundation, Service was responsible for the maintenance of train fleets in 16 countries and looked after more than 680 vehicles, covering a total of more than 115 million kilometres per year.
From the first service contract signed in the USA in 2020, to the largest service agreement in Stadler's history signed in 2022 (32-years of maintenance for VDV Tram Trains) and the completion of a brand new state-of-the-art depot in Gosforth for the maintenance of Tyne and Wear Metro's fleet of trains, Stadler deploys flexible and innovative maintenance concepts to ensure the availability and reliability of rolling stock. Also noteworthy are the trains for Greater Anglia, for which Stadler has been awarded for three consecutive years for its service performance at the UK industry-acclaimed Golden Spanner Awards.
These achievements highlight the scope and quality of Stadler's Service division, which continues to make a significant contribution to a safe and reliable railway for passengers all over the world.
