Two systems – one train: CITYLINK

Connecting the city and surrounding area without transfers – can be used as a smart combination of a tram and an interurban train. CITYLINK provides numerous application possibilities for railway operators.

Hero product image

A successful concept for connecting cities with the surrounding area by public transport, without needing to change transport mode. The barrier-free light rail vehicles can be operated with both the tram power supply and the mainline railway power supply and signalling systems. This allows them to meet the requirements of railway and tramway regulations alike.

CITYLINK can be integrated into existing networks seamlessly without the need for infrastructure work, and it can handle platforms of varying heights on the same line.

We have already equipped the CITYLINK with traction batteries – for even more flexibility.

Connects citites with the surrounding area

The CITYLINK follows the “Karlsruhe model”, which emerged in Karlsruhe in the 1980s from the idea of connecting the city with the surrounding area without needing to change trains. The CITYLINK is designed to run on the inner-city tram and light-rail network, as well as on regional railway lines.. With almost 500 vehicles sold, Stadler's CITYLINK has become worldwide reference in the tram-train segment.
