This can be preventive and corrective maintenance, revision, Condition-Based maintenance, Balanced Maintenance, Asset Management and Entity in Charge of Maintenance (ECM).   • Since 2017, Stadler has been responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of Merseyrail’s Class 507 and 508 trains in Liverpool. The full-service contract runs until 2052. From 2022, Stadler will phase out the existing fleet and introduce a new metro train, the Class 777. Until 2019, maintenance, shunting and cleaning work for the old fleet was carried out at the Kirkdale and Birkenhead North depots. The old depot in Kirkdale was then demolished and completely rebuilt during ongoing operations. For efficiency reasons, the former depot in Birkenhead North was merged with the new, enlarged depot in Kirkdale.

  • In November 2013, the Swedish rail operator MTR Express ordered six five-car low-floor FLIRT multiple units from Stadler with a full-service contract until 2025. The vehicles are based on the proven FLIRT platform and were developed for the special conditions in the Nordic countries. At the start of operations, MTR Express planned to operate with five train units and to have one unit as a maintenance reserve. Thanks to the short maintenance time and good cooperation, MTR Express is able to operate all six units in daily service during peak hours, resulting in more ticket sales for the operator and additional availability for passengers.
