Full Service for the Merseyrail fleet in Liverpool

Since 2017, Stadler has been responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of Merseyrail’s Class 507 and 508 trains in Liverpool. The full-service contract runs until 2052. Since 2022, Stadler phases out the existing fleet and introduces a new metro train, the Class 777. Until 2019, maintenance, shunting and cleaning work for the old fleet was carried out at the Kirkdale and Birkenhead North depots. The old depot in Kirkdale was then demolished and completely rebuilt during ongoing operations. For efficiency reasons, the former depot in Birkenhead North was merged with the new, enlarged depot in Kirkdale.
