New platform for New Zealand and Australia – DM Class
Compliant with the latest safety and emissions standards, the mainline six-axle DM Class locomotives combine a high-power output with low fuel consumption and low emissions. The monocoque narrow body locomotive represents the new Stadler’s locomotive platform for New Zealand and Australia.
With excellent traction performance, the DM Class locomotives reach a speed up to 120km/h. They are prepared for ETCS installation and can be adapted to different customer needs, being available with several drives and track gauges. The two cabs offer optimal visibility and an exceptional working environment for the drivers, including ergonomic desks.
Characteristics
High performance
DM Class locomotives combine a high-power output up to 3,000 kW with low fuel consumption and low emissions. They provide higher versatility, safety, reliability and energy efficiency.
Cutting-edge enignes
Compliant with the latest emission standard (Stage V or Tier 4), the state-of-the-art engines not only achieve a substantial reduction in pollutant emissions but also optimize combustion, resulting in lower fuel consumption and reduced greenhouse gases emissions.
Alternative fuels
The locomotives are also prepared for the use with HVO bio-fuels, which contribute to the reduction CO2eq emissions, supporting the decarbonization of the transport sector.
Energy efficiency
Other innovative features that lead to a reduction in energy consumption and emissions include braking energy recovery for powering auxiliary equipment, AC/AC transmission system and six asynchronous high-efficiency traction motors.
Monocoque carbody
The locomotives feature a compact design, lightweight monocoque narrow body monocoque structure made of carbon steel, high strength steel and stainless steel.
Minimum downtime
High level of in-built redundancy, extended maintenance intervals and minimum routine consumables to reduce costs and downtime. In addition, in-service proven components and subsystems guarantee outstanding levels of reliability and availability.
External walkways
Two external walkways connect both cabs and provide direct access to main equipment for maintenance purposes.
THE BEST WORKING PLACE FOR THE DRIVERS
Safe and efficient operations start with the driver. Our drivers’ cabs are designed according to ergonomic criteria, as well as in compliance with the noise and comfort requirements as set out in the latest standards. They are fully insulated, acoustically and thermally, and feature an enhanced HVAC system that optimizes cab comfort.
THE BEST BOGIE TECHNOLOGY
The high performance three-axle bogie, with high adhesion and very low track forces, enables lower wear and tear on the infrastructure and reduced track access costs.
DIGITALISATION
Our top-of-the-range locomotives are fitted with the latest generation of vehicle control systems, including remote monitoring and diagnosis features to enable our customers to move to a predictive maintenance environment.
