Stadler is building 19 FLIRT Akku multiple units for DB Regio for passenger service in north-eastern Germany. The two-car multiple units are tailored to the needs of the network, part of which runs along the Baltic coast.
They will be used for a transport contract period of 13 years on routes RB11 (Wismar–Rostock–Tessin), RB12 (Bad Doberan–Rostock–Graal-Müritz) and RB 25 (Velgast – Barth).
The FLIRT Akku trains can accommodate up to 237 passengers, 98 of them seated. Two spacious and fully accessible multi-purpose areas are designed for the transport of wheelchairs, pushchairs and bicycles. The air-conditioned vehicles with step-free access also have a wheelchair-accessible toilet. Comprehensive equipment with WiFi, power sockets as well as video surveillance of the passenger areas and a state-of-the-art passenger-information system ensure fully modern travelling comfort.
